I think of the new web face-lift of “FantomStranger.com”, the brain child of Andy Devon Hafferman. You may or may not remember Hafferman from his early ’70’s Black Exploitation films such as “The Easter Ebony”  or  “Africon African African’t.”   He rose to his most notable level of fame in 1989 when he released the a series of  instrumental albums known as ” The Thunder Donkeys” – which combined his love for the electric Oboe and his signature use of numchucks on bongo drums.

But it wasn’t until 1993, when Hafferman joined forces with Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) to form “itputsthelotionon.com” – which would single handedly change the face of the Dot Com boom to come.

“I wasn’t in the business to define the line between art and commerce. That’s a very fine line to cross. I was raised with the notion that a disintegrated culture can only rise from its ashes, if the embers are reignited. I’m here to keep that flame lit.”

In 1999, Hafferman launched his premiere hip hop clothing line , Id 10-T.  And in the Summer of ‘99, Hafferman fronted the NASA based program

“Operation Ipsilon” – which sent the first paraplegic magician into space orbit in the Fall of 2002.

Sadly,  tragedy lurked in the wings for Hafferman. In the Winter of 2003, Hafferman’s clothing line,

Id 10-T, shut 4 of its 5 locations (one remaining location in Hunduras still exists as of June 2008*).

Broke, over weight and hyperglycemic, Hafferman  joined the Peace Corp where he fell in love with actress

Dakota Fanning. After 2 months of premarital sex, Hafferman and Fanning called it quits. And in the Summer of 2004, Hafferman had his hand back at web design yet once again.

2007 brought many successes for Hafferman. He currently fathers one child and maintains a personal system of closed web networks which offer exclusive admin authorship as well as an image dump.

In Fall of 2009, Hafferman launched his new design for  Fantom Stranger.com. The bread and butter that quenched his appetite during the hardships of his earlier career.

What does the future hold for this multi-genius-web-entrepreneur?

“I don’t…think of things in terms of past, present, future. I think in terms of  spatial relativity. Conscious. The equator. Division. Loss.  I think the world we live in forgets to imagine a world without infinite possibility. What’s more infinite than a Fantom Stranger?”
