This laptop is slick, sexy, and awkward.
Overall I love this laptop, because of it’s “NEW” factor. Everything is new to me, I’ve never owned my own laptop until now. There was a really super slick “deal” on the web so I pounced. After 3 weeks use, I love it even more. There are certain limitations to it that have pricked my side but I can say it’s not enough to make me upset or dislike the product. The place I purchased it doesn’t list the product anymore.
On to the product specs:
- 5.7lbs
- 15.6″ 1366×768
- Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 @ 2.1GHz
- 4GB RAM
- 500GB HDD
- DVD burner
- 802.11n
- Vista Home Premium
- NVIDIA Geforce 9400 512MB
- webcam
- 6-cell battery
The Good Stuff
It has a very bright screen for day usage. The hotkeys actually work correctly on this laptop “out of the box”. The processor is decent so the speed of the laptop is faster then tolerable, and enjoyable in Vista 64. It also comes with a decent NVIDIA graphics card that plays Heros of Newerth “well” in high graphics. Left 4 Dead 2 demo ran smoothly with high detail. There isn’t a wireless switch to bump, only a keyboard shortcut. There is no display locking mechanism to keep your screen from coming open. The laptop was marketed to canada and usa so the keys also have french symbols on them, and includes french versions of the software.
The Ok Stuff
They give some decent apps that are kind of fun. The web cam software has facial recognition that actually works OK during the fun stuff. They have some security software that is supposed to recognize you’re face and log you in. It doesn’t work that great but sometimes if you’re in the same spot that you recorded, it will log you in.
The Not So Good Stuff
The touchpad has a bumpy feeling that I was not used to at first and is a bit more sensitive then older generation touch-pads so my cursor flies around the screen and I sometimes end up rapid clicking infinitely until I mash the buttons.
The Bad Stuff
The keyboard layout is awkward and is hard to get used too. The shift and enter key have an added “\” key jammed into them, for a reason I cannot tell. It lacks HDMI.
Final Comment
It’s not an instant gratification machine, but you will definatly grow to love it after use.
I don’t know where to link this product because it doesn’t exist anywhere permanent.
